    Amp (abbreviation for Ampere): Commonly called Amp Hour:
    1 unit of measure of electric power. The strength of a current of electricity expressed as amperes (Amps per Hour)

    Amperage:
    The strength of electrical current in a given application. (1 amp = 1000 mili amps)

                    (2 amps+2000mili amps)

    Dry Cell battery:
    Any battery that does not have liquid in side. Alkaline, Nickel Cadmium, Nickel Metal Hydride, Lithium, Zinc Chloride batteries are all considered DRY CELL BATTERIES.

    Any battery that has liquid inside it are examples of batteries are considered WET CELLS. Automotive batteries are a example of some types of wet cells.

    Voltage:
    The strength of current in a battery. Voltage can vary with type of battery.
             Ni-MH is 1.2 Volts
             Ni-Cd is 1.2 Volts
             Lithium is 3.3 Volts
             Alkaline is 1.5 Volts.
             Zinc Air Coin Battery is 1.4 Volts
             Silver Oxide Coin Battery is 1.5 volts
             Ni-MH 9 Volt is actually 8.4

    (explanation as follows)
    Now, I know you wondering why is a 9 Volt Nickel Metal Hydride battery is termed 9 Volts even though it says on the battery that it is 8.4 Volts.

    Well we will try to explain this:

    A 9 Volt Battery whether it is Alkaline or Ni-MH is actually several very small batteries joined together inside a battery case to make a 9 volt battery. 9 Volt Ni-MH batteries are mostly manufactured now with 7 battery cells instead of 6.
    Because of improvements in technology, manufactures have been able to make the individual cells much smaller and can therefore fit 7 - 1.2 Volt batteries inside the 9 volt case.

    Example: each Alkaline battery connected together:

    1.5V + 1.5V + 1.5V + 1.5V + 1.5V + 1.5 V = 9.0 Volts

    Example: each 1.2-volt Ni-MH battery connected together.

    1.2v + 1.2v + 1.2V + 1.2V + 1.2V + 1.2V + 1.2V = 8.4 Total Volts

    I know what the next question is going to be....A 9 Volt Ni-MH battery is NOT 9 Volts so why is called that?
    Right....but it is the closest they have come so far to a true 9 Volt  rechargeable battery. And they can and do substitute well for a 9 Volt Alkaline.

    So you  see the 9 volt battery you by at the store is just a small battery pack placed in a plastic outer case to make it one battery unit. You can  achieve different voltages.by changing the of how the cells connect  to each other. Some of the configurations used in battery pack manufacturing are batteries side by side with connectors from positive to positive creates one voltage, side by side with connectors from positive to negative achieves a different voltage, while stacking the batteries one over the other achieves yet another voltage.

     mAh: Mille Amp Hours:

    Is the measure used to describe the amount of energy stored within the battery. Example...
    If you were discharging your battery at a current rate of 1 amp (1 amp =1000 mili amps), a 1000 mAh battery will last 1 hour before needing to be recharged. Further examples below....

              A 1000 mAh Battery will last 1.0 hour
              A 1500 mAh Battery will last 1.5 hour
              A 1800 mAh Battery will last 1.8 hour
              A 2100 mAh Battery will last 2.1 hour
              A 2300 mAh Battery will last 2.3 hour
              A 2500 mAh Battery will last 2.5 hour
              A 4500 mAh Battery will last 4.5 hour

     Discharge Rates:

    Refers to the rate of current used in a specific application. Discharge rates vary with the type of application a battery is used in. To figure your discharge rate use this simple formula below.

    Using a 2100 mAh Battery, you would take
              2100 mAh BATTERY...2.1 hours and divide by 5 Amp's
              (250mAh. Discharge rate) = 4.4 hours of use

    Using a 2100 mAh Battery, you would take
              2100 mAh BATTERY...2.1 hours and divide by 5 Amp's
              (500mAh. Discharge rate) = 2.2 hours of use

    Using a 2100 mAh Battery, you would take
              2100 BATTERY...2.1 hours AND DIVIDE BY 2 Amp's
              (2 mAh discharge rate) = 1.5 hours

    Using a 9000 mAh Battery         

    9000 battery...9.0 hours and divide By 2 Amp's
              (2 mAh discharge rate) = 4.5 hours

    Efficiency of Battery:
    Measured by Ampere-Hour, Watts and Voltage.

     Specific Power:
    Specific discharge rate of a battery.

    Specific Energy:
    Measurement of stored power within a battery or battery pack

     

    High Rate Discharge Batteries:

    Some applications call for a battery that will discharge energy at a high rate. The energy inside the battery is used or replaced in a short period of time. These batteries typically have a lower mAh  (Mille Amp Hour) capacity due to the added amount of metal used inside the battery to enhance electrical performance. These batteries will also have a shorter life cycle due to the extreme charge and discharge conditions that they are subjected to.
    (These batteries are made to discharge lots of energy very fast for a short period of time)

    NiMh Battery:
    abbreviation for Nickel Metal Hydride Battery:

    Manufactured from nickel hydroxide and hydrogen absorbing metals. These rechargeable batteries provide 40% more battery life than Ni-Cd batteries. Ni-MH batteries are 1.2 Volts. Ni-MH will NOT suffer from "Memory Effect" often found in Ni-Cd batteries. This battery is considered more "Environmentally Friendly" than NiCd or Alkaline batteries.
    Shipped to consumer with very low level of charge for SAFETY. Must be fully charged before use.

    Nickel Metal Hydride storage Tips:

    • Charge with specified charger only.
    • Use a "SMART CHARGER" to charge batteries(circuited to sense full charge on batteries then shut off) or a Timer charger( timed to shut off)
    • Do not fully discharge Nickel Metal Hydride batteries or packs.
    • Do not expose to fire or explosion can occur.
    • Keep away from rain, moisture and seawater.
    • Do not attempt to disassemble or reassemble battery pack.

              The battery visually inspected by unaided eye 30cm away from battery.
              The battery shall be free from scratch, rust and extruded internal compounds, such as sealing compounds
              and etc. and sertiuos displacement of artwork.
             Appearance defects shall not be observed that may cause adversely affect actual use of the performance of battery.

                  6.2 High temperature leakage test
                          Test conditions: store for 20 days under 60=-2 "C, then store 4~24hours under standard environment.

        7. SECURITY CHARACTERISTICS

                 7.1 7.1 User drop test
                           This test simulates the situation when a battery is accidentally dropped
                           Test conditions: Un-discharged batteries shall be dropped from a height of 1m onto a concrete surface.
                           Each test battery shall be dropped six times in each of the three directions. The test batteries shall be
                           stored for 1 hour afterwards.
                  Number of test sets: 5 batteries
                  Requirement: No fire, no explosion or leakage after 1 hour OCV maintenance rate is 95% over

             7.2 Short circuit-proof characteristics
                           This test simulates and external  short circuit of a battery during daily handling of batteries
                           Test conditions:  Positive and negative terminals of an un-discharged battery shall be connected directly.
                           The circuit shall be completed for 24 hours or until battery case temperature has returned to ambient.
                           The resistance of the inter-connecting circuitry shall not exceed 0.1
                  Number of  test samples: 5 batteries
                  Requirement: No fire or explosion; Leakage allowed

             7.3  Incorrect installation
                          This test simulates incorrect installation of a battery in a series application
                          Test conditions: 4 un-discharged batteries are used per test. 3 batteries are to be placed correctly in series;
                          the 4th battery is reversed with respect to polarity.
                          The circuit is to maintained until venting occurs or the reversed battery temperature has returned to ambient.
                   Number of test sets: 5 (20 batteries)
                   Requirement: No fire or explosion; Leakage is allowable

Batteries are dated on the month they are shipped and warranty is good for 24 months thereafter.

Supreme Power LifeLight batteries are not prorated on warranty for time of use.
